Trust me, I’m a doctor every bit as well qualified as Dr Pepper. Many people disagree with me, but you CAN contract tuberculosis if someone looks at you funny.

This is difficult to guard against, but the best thing to do is always be wary. Paranoia is the strongest defence. If you suspect someone might be about to look at you funny, don’t take any chances, lamp them in the chops before they can rearrange their facial features into what I call a ‘risk alignment’.

A risk aligned face can spit tuberculosis up to 90 yards and there isn’t a damn thing you can do about it.

1. Reduce Stimulant Intakes
It could be a good idea to reduce or remove the amount of stimulants you put into your body. This should reduce the amount of sweat you will have to deal with. Stimulants may come in the form of caffeine found in soft drinks, coffee, chocolate and sugar etc.

2. Eat Healthily
Eating the right foods can also help to significantly reduce sweating by calming the sympathetic nerves, which act as stimulants in sweat production. There are many herbs in particular than can help reduce sweating.

3. Wash Your Face
Keeping your face clean is a great way to help prevent facial sweating. Be sure that when your face is washed, you use cold and clean water – otherwise you will get the adverse effect! Dry your face with a clean towel or small dry wash cloth.

4. Reduce Stress
Stress is a large factor in hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). Learning yoga and meditation techniques will help your stress levels and body temperature, which will reduce excessive sweating significantly.

5. Have Short Hair
Having shorter hair will allow more air to get to your head. This will allow air flow through your hair and onto your head, which could help to reduce excessive face and head sweating.

Treating Acne

It is important to state from the outset that there are many different types of acne treatments and each one will work in different ways for different people. There is laser acne treatments to consider as well as various over-the-counter lotions that work by reducing oil and killing bacteria on the skin’s surface.

Most famous brand names will be effective as acne treatments for teenage cases, and there are plenty to choose from. Some cases have seen doctors prescribe a mild version of birth control as an acne treatment. Contraceptive pills work because they change the hormonal makeup of a person. Even though the contraceptive pill is completely safe, some people are hesitant to use this Acne treatment due to do with the social thoughts that are linked to taking the pill at a young age. It is however an effective treatment.

What is DOMS?

Author: Alex 09/09/2009

I tell you one thing I hate: acronyms. People use them without knowing what they stand for and pretty soon no-one remembers and then people use the acronym incorrectly and all meaning is lost. You should always know what the letters stand for.

DOMS stands for ‘delayed onset of muscle soreness’. This is the phenomenon whereby you experience stiff muscles some time after a bout of exercise. Squash Arse is one ailment that always seem to go hand in hand with DOMS.

It’s thought to be the result of many tiny tears to your muscle fibres and is felt most acutely after doing unfamiliar movements during exercise.

Running with shin splints

Author: Ian 09/09/2009

Shin splints are no one thing. It’s actually just a term that’s used to refer to several different problems which all result in similar pain on the front of the lower leg.

I can’t tell you which kind I suffered, but it was as a result of overuse. I did a lot of running and despite having my feet tested, I’m pretty sure I had the wrong kind of running shoes.

I will tell you one thing about the experience of having shin splints: do not go running.

I found that like many injuries, a short spell of running would cause the pain to subside, but it’s misleading. You’re actually doing more damage and you’ll know about it the next day.

Dignitas and suicide clinics

Author: Ian 07/17/2009

Suicide clinics, good or bad? I’m really caught between the fact that people in the world suffer that much and should have the right to end it if they really want but on the other hand there is a very close line between assisted suicide and man slaughter. If you were in pure agony would you really give up on living to stop the pain or would you hope for a cure and live on the strongest pain killers which give you no life at all and don’t actually stop the excruciating pain certain diseases make you feel. Whats your opinion?

Swine Flu

Author: Ian 07/16/2009

What sort of medical blog would this be if I didn’t mention the world epidemic of swine flu. Its everywhere, one of the lads in the office has been banned form the office as his girlfriend has been diagnosed and even worse my cleaner has been given a dose of the swine flu but luckily in her case she has Tami-flu nice and early.

Who the hell is going to do my cleaning, err I men get well soon. I suppose I have always got my girlfriend as I really cannot be bothered.

Do you know some one with swine flu?

Period pains

Author: Ian 07/15/2009

As a man growing up in a mixed school you often came across the crazy world of menstruation and period pains, whilst growing up you think this is a myth, or girls simply attention seeking and has got to be the best reason to either get time off or crave attention. When you get a little bit older exactly the same happens and many people all over the world use the taboo subject to get extra days off or receive unnecessary sympathy from friends or colleagues. The only time I ever give this recognition is if my partner is doubled over as I’m sure that if they are not they can rectify this will pain killers? Whats your opinion?

Rhinitis

Author: Ian 07/14/2009

Rhinitis is a condition that is hereditary and affects the the nose and throat, making you have a runny itchy nose and sneeze hundreds of times a day, I know this as the gentleman sat in front of me has it and sneezes around 120 times a day, you can get sprays to subside the runny itchy nose but realistically you need an operation to sort the nasal cavity out and then breath for ever easy after that.

The funny thing is this guy wont even get the nasal spray and sits there all day blowing his nose and sniffing, I think if it was me that would drive me mad and I would be moaning to the doctor on a weekly basis.

What about you?
