Nasal spray to help with shyness
Author: IanIf you’re a shy person or someone who is uncomfortable in social situations fear not, help is at hand. Scientists have developed a nasal spray to help overcome these feelings.
The spray contains the hormone oxytocin (a love hormone) which is known to increase empathy and bonding as it is given to mothers to help them bond with their new born babies.
US and Israeli scientists conducted a test of 27 healthy adult men, giving them the hormone or a placebo via a nasal spray and then asking them to perform an ‘empathic accuracy task’ – which measures their powers of reading the thoughts and feelings of others.
The results could not only help people who suffer with social deficiencies but also with conditions such as autism.
